A day at the water lab

Today we had a good start with setting up the solar sail at the water lab.
It wasn't straightforward as initially thought, which meant some adjustments were needed to get the right amount of tension from all corners.

The sail is very light and also its fabric is strong.
It looks capable of properly supporting the weight of the solar panel (fabric).
It was great to have some practical work to do as part of the course tasks. It allows one to be creative and it further strengthens the spirit of team work.
Next we'll focus on fixing the two components (sail & solar fabric) together.

As discussed this morning, for the present need, it may be sufficient to fix only the solar fabric at the center of the sail and to show how the actual installation will look like on the design being prepared by Pentti (i.e., the three fabrics to get the whole 150W).
If this design is done according to scale, it'll also help to estimate the required sail size & thus can be recommended to NSN.
